That same year she was employed as an intern at An American Place restaurant for a year. Guarnaschelli began her career in cooking in the earlier years, while looking at her mother's test kitchen while editing books at home. Following her time at Larry Forgione in New York as well as France, Los Angeles she also worked in Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. She ended up as the chef in charge at Butter. Guarnaschelli was a contestant in 2007's Farmers Market Battle, a segment of Food Network's Iron Chef America, where she was up against Cat Cora. In the following years, she has appeared as an Iron Chef America judge and in 2011 competed in The Next Iron Chef season four where she was the third place finisher. Also, she lost in her final competition, the Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast. Following the conclusion of season 4, she was appointed Geoffrey Zakarian's sous-chef. She hosted The Food Network program The Cooking Loft along with Alex Guarnaschelli. In this show she taught a group of small students how to re-invent classic dishes.
